Message from President Cordelia Anthony
Hi June…..we’ve all been looking for you. Firstly I want to take a moment to reflect on where we’ve been, what lies ahead, and most importantly—how proud I am to serve such a committed and hardworking membership. Over the past few months, your dedication has spoken louder than any headline. Whether it was showing up for a social event, making calls to help get the budget passed, or being a supportive colleague I just want to say thank you. You are the union! Asking for advice, clarity, or sharing concerns regarding contract workload and/or safety issues are all important to building our capacity. Your collective voice has made a difference. Now that we are in the last month of the 24-25 school year, we should also feel a sense of accomplishment for what we have been able to impart to our students this year. Whether you helped them with basic skills, piqued their interest in a career in a certain field, or just made them feel welcomed in your classroom each day, it all matters. We need to have a strong sense of community as we are still looking at the impact of federal legislation on our professions and unionism. I’d like to add my personal congratulations to all those retirees who we won’t ‘see in September’. We extend our heartfelt thanks for your years of dedicated service, guidance, and wisdom. The legacy you have created will continue to shape our FFT local and the Farmingdale Schools community. Lastly, our bargaining team requested for you to share some ideas and issues you would like us to start looking at before we open up formal negotiations with the district. As most of you know our current contractual bargaining agreement expires on June 30th, 2026 so we’ll need your continued engagement through the process and please stay tuned for updates once we get started. As you know we sometimes need to be ready to mobilize. As usual below in this message I will share some pertinent information on member benefits, local and national union events, actions, and information that you can benefit from.
