Message from President Cordelia Anthony

Somehow we are at the end of 2023. It’s almost unbelievable how time flies. I hope that this message finds you celebrating, planning, and/or excitedly preparing for the holidays and our holiday break. I know how very hard you have all been working during his half of the school year both inside and outside of your classrooms. Our educators are some of the most impressive around and the time and effort that you expend to educate and support the students of Farmingdale should never go unrecognized. With that being said you definitely deserve a few days of rest and relaxation with your families and friends. I know this year hasn’t been easy for us and that morale is not as it should be for various reasons, but you demonstrated your willingness to support one another, to continue your activism and to keep our union strong.

As I’ve mentioned a few times before this school year we are recognizing the 55th year of the FFT. We received our AFT union charter in 1968. It bears repeating that we stand on the shoulders of giants in unionism that advocated to give us a voice. Always remember that as we celebrate we should keep in mind those that aren’t as strong and those who are less fortunate.

On your behalf the FFT does multiple acts of public service for our students and to the community. You can also participate in your local communities by donating to local food banks that will provide a nourishing meal to a family during this season. I once again wish you all a happy holiday season and I look forward to a prosperous 2024 with you.
